Catherine Limón has been providing hour long concerts of classical violin music here at Balfour Senior Living, Longmont, CO, supported by her accompanist Pauline Soderberg over the last two years, making a very fine addition and enrichment to our lives here. We look forward to every one of her concerts and are grateful for her contribution.

Catherine was a foundational mentor to me throughout my childhood and young adulthood. As my viola teacher, she taught me the importance of meticulous practice and always striving to improve (“onward and upward”). She wasn’t afraid to push me or call me out if I hadn’t practiced enough or put my best foot forward. At the same time,  she was incredibly kind and compassionate when I needed it. This balanced approach meant that I could always trust her as a mentor and ensured that I progressed rapidly in musical ability. Although I don’t play my viola nearly as much now as I did in high school, the lessons Catherine taught me have helped me innumerably throughout all aspects of my life. Furthermore, I will always treasure the love of music and playing ability that she helped me develop.

I love working with Catherine! As a conductor, I’ve always been delighted to have her in the concertmaster’s chair, knowing that I could trust her to make my job that much easier and more pleasant.

I have loved the violin since I saw my friend play in Kindergarten. I am the violinist I am today because of Catherine. Catherine has been one of the most influential people in my life. Learning how to play the violin can have many ups and downs, but her diligent instruction, patience, and kindness each week gave me not only the techniques and skills to become a wonderful violinist but is also largely responsible for my joy of music and love of playing. I have been active with my violin since I began at age 9, and have played in various orchestras and chamber groups around the country. She has kept in touch with me into my adulthood, sharing advice, books, new techniques and making sure I have continued success both in my violin and in my life. I am currently enjoying time with the Greeley Chamber Orchestra with the first violin section, and getting Suzuki Certified in hopes to build a studio of my own in the Berthoud, Colorado area.
